Zhang Hua graduated from the Sculpture major at Hebei Arts and Crafts School in 1985, and in 1998 was admitted to the main graduate coursework program of the Sculpture Department at the Central Academy of Fine Arts.
Member of the Chinese Sculpture Institute, advisor to the Public Art Committee of the China Cultural Industry Promotion Association, member of the Sculpture Committee of the China Arts and Crafts Society, committee member of the Beijing Municipal Public Environmental Art and Urban Sculpture Committee for Urban Planning, guest professor at the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, distinguished researcher at the China Contemporary Sculpture Research Institute, and art advisor to the Chahar Institute for Cultural Studies.
His representative work “Childhood Memory” is permanently housed in the Beijing International Sculpture Park; “Dream of Flying” was selected for the first China International Art Biennale and, presented as a “state gift” by the Chinese government to South Korea, is permanently kept on Daehak-ro, Jongno District, Seoul. “Sea Breeze” is held by the Beijing municipal government and permanently stands between the Bird’s Nest and the Water Cube. His 16-metre stainless steel sculpture “Soaring” was permanently acquired by the government of Chongli, one of the host cities of the 2022 Winter Olympic bid.
Five of his Winter Olympics-themed sculptures were listed among the “Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics licensed products.” Several of his sculptures are held in museums, art galleries, and private collections in China and abroad.
