Wei Erqiang

Position: Associate Professor and Doctoral Supervisor, Sculpture Department, Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University.

  • 1996 — Graduated with a master’s degree in Sculpture from the Central Academy of Arts & Design (now the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University).
  • 1998–1999 — Research visit to the Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris, France.
  • 2004–2005 — Visiting scholar at the Surikov Moscow State Academic Art Institute, Russia.
  • 2017–2018 — Visiting scholar at Columbia University, USA.

Professional exhibitions:

  • 1997 — Took part in creating the sculpture “Forever Blooming Bauhinia” marking Hong Kong’s return to China.
  • 2000 — Created the relief for the China Millennium Monument.
  • 2006 — Ösa International Wood Sculpture Symposium, Sweden.
  • 2009 — “Run, Girl, Run” acquired by an art museum; “Creative Space” EU-China Cultural and Artistic Exchange Exhibition; the work “Idol” acquired by the Kouvola Museum, Finland.
  • 2012 — “Run, Girl, Run” received an Excellence Award at the 4th Olympic Sport and Art Contest (China region).
  • 2016 — “Sun Tzu’s Troop Formation” acquired by the National Museum of China.
