Qiao Qian, born in 1968 in Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province. Received a doctoral degree from the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University, in 2002.
Professor at the School of Architecture and Art, North China University of Technology; doctoral supervisor at the University of Education, Lahore (Pakistan); doctoral supervisor at Krirk University (Thailand); researcher at the Wu Guanzhong Art Center, Tsinghua University; member of the China Artists Association; committee member of the National Urban Sculpture Steering Committee under the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development; standing council member of the China Urban Sculpture Artists Association; committee member of the Beijing Public Art Advisory Committee and of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics Public Art Planning Committee; and an expert in bronze culture.
He took part in creating the main sculpture “Forever Blooming Bauhinia” marking Hong Kong’s return, the main relief “Ode to the Chinese Millennium” at the China Millennium Monument, a commemorative sculpture for the 10th anniversary of Macau’s return, and a themed sculpture for the Winter Olympics Park.
His works have been selected for dozens of art exhibitions in China and abroad, and he has held numerous solo exhibitions and experimental art events. Dozens of his works are held by institutions and private collectors, including the National Art Museum of China and the Shenzhen Art Museum.
He has published more than 50 papers and dozens of works in major Chinese art journals, and has authored several monographs, including “Art and the Spirit of Life“, “The National Style of Chinese Contemporary Sculpture“, “The Standing Soul: Reading Sculpture within the Landscape“, and “Public Art Design“.
He has taken part in the design of the “Berlin 2030” project at the Technical University of Berlin (Germany) and the “Warm Wales” project at the Welsh School of Architecture, Cardiff University (UK).
His public artworks are permanently held in numerous locations.
