Meng Zhigang, born in 1975 in Guilin, China. Contemporary artist and freelance writer, currently based between Singapore and Shanghai. In 2006, he conducted in-depth ethnographic research in the Yunnan-Tibet region, documenting the state of ethnic minority folk songs, and that same year curated the original ecological art performance "Original Sound Time-Space" in Beijing.
His work "Painting Gong-Fu" was shortlisted for Best Documentary at the Los Angeles AOF Film Festival in 2007. In 2013, his solo exhibition "Not Entering the City" was held at the Today Art Museum in Beijing. From 2015, he worked as artistic director on several documentary series for CCTV4.
In 2016, as one of the founders of "Qiju Technology," he began forming a cross-disciplinary art-and-technology group to research and develop new technological art, creating with contemporary materials and media such as sound and light, and actively bridging cultural concepts such as tradition and contemporaneity, myth and science. He has also regularly contributed articles on technology and art to several media outlets, and actively promotes public art projects and related culture.
In 2022 he launched the "Fierce Spirit Journey" artist project, completing its first season on Lake Tai in Suzhou.
