Liu Qing, born in 1982 in Hunan.
Graduated from the Affiliated High School of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 2001, received a bachelor’s degree from the Sculpture Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 2006, and a master’s degree in sculpture from the same institution in 2009.
Worked at the Beijing People’s Art Theatre from graduation until 2018; since 2018 has worked at the Sculpture Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts as Associate Professor.
Currently committee member of the Sculpture Art Committee of the China Artists Association, Deputy Secretary-General of the Sculpture Committee of the China Arts and Crafts Society, review committee member for precious-metal commemorative coins at the People’s Bank of China, council member of the Chinese Sculpture Institute, standing council member of the China Urban Sculpture Artists Association, and sculptor at the Young Sculptors Creation Center of the China Sculpture Research Institute.
His personal works have been shown at numerous major academic exhibitions in China and abroad and have received important academic awards, including the “Central Academy of Fine Arts ‘Xu Beihong’ Award,” the “1st Central Academy of Fine Arts Jin Shangyi Young Teachers’ Creation Award,” “Bronze Award” (twice, at both the 11th and 12th National Art Exhibitions), the “China Sculpture Art Grand Prize” (twice, at both the 1st and 4th “China. Attitude” National Sculpture Exhibition), the “Excellence Award” at the 4th China Youth Art Exhibition, and three international awards: the “Excellent Work Award” at the 2022 Oita Asia Sculpture Exhibition in Japan, the “Bungo Ono Award” in 2018, and the “Japan-China Friendship Hall Grand Prize” in 2011.
