Djibril Coulibaly

Born in 1996 in the Médina district of Dakar, Djibril Coulibaly began drawing from childhood. His visits to the Soumbédioune Village des Arts nurtured his artistic sensibility before he graduated from the École des Beaux-Arts de Dakar in 2023. His work explores the body, memory, spirituality and social relationships through themes such as family, migration and the transmission of values. The imprint occupies a central place in his practice: through the repetition of gestures, the layering of materials and the use of pigments and natural elements, it evokes human presence and the passage of time. Inspired in particular by the teachings of Muridism, he has taken part in several group exhibitions, including the Dakar OFF Biennial. In 2025, he was selected as one of the 15 finalists for the Kuenyehia Prize for Contemporary Art.
